01
Start with the production brief
Confirm process layouts, equipment loads, clearances and supplier information before fixing the building arrangement. Record which requirements come from the owner, process specialists and equipment vendors, and track missing data as design dependencies.
02
Connect civil works to equipment installation
Foundations, pits, openings and lifting access should be coordinated with equipment delivery dates. A package-level programme helps expose conflicts between building completion and vendor installation, particularly when installation must begin before all surrounding works are finished.
03
Define readiness for production
Distinguish construction completion from utility availability, equipment testing and operational acceptance. For an extension to an existing plant, agree isolation and shutdown constraints with the operating team and evaluate how the works affect ongoing production.
